The UK operates a single network of operations centres and integrated maritime radio infrastructure. While carrying out a range of coast guard functions, all centres carry out the duties of an MRCC. If operationally required, all operations centres can temporarily extend or contract the area that is normally covered which might occur during busy periods, training or because of incident working. The UK MRCC is located within the National Maritime Operations Centre (NMOC), which is the UK's national maritime command and control centre, and should be contacted by other MRCCs/RCCs whenever contact is required.
