The authority responsible for National Maritime SAR is the Argentine Navy. The Maritme SAR organization joins Argentine Navy and Prefectura Naval SAR capabilities and facilities. Argentine Navy acts as the National Maritime SAR Agency for operation of all MRCC's and Prefectura is responsible for the operation of all RSCs. The Prefectura Naval Argentina provides the Safety of Navigation Communication Service (SECOSENA) through Argentine Naval Authority Coast Radio Stations. - - The SECOSENA stations maintain a continuous listening watch on international distress frequencies. Whenever possible vessels should maintain a permanent watch on VHF Ch16 when within range of a SECOSENA station. If watch cannot be kept on VHF Ch16, then Ch12 or 14 should be used giving notice to the nearest SECOSENA Station. - - Telemedical Assistance Services: Contact via any of the MRCCs/MRSCs.
